Announcing the winners of “Grasz o staż”: Win an internship at Lingaro

Lingaro participated as one of the sponsors in the contest "Grasz o staż" for the first time, this year. It was organized by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Gazeta Wyborcza. This initiative sets the stage for students and graduates to interact with employers. The winners get a chance to gain valuable professional experience, often the first such serious endeavor for a fresh graduate, and it often becomes the ticket to a permanent job. Through the competition, Lingaro offered a two-month apprenticeship for the winners. It was a close competition with many participants. We, at Lingaro, welcome the fact that young people care about their career development, acquiring practical skills and taking part in such professional competitions.

The rules were simple – the interested candidates were required to send their CVs and solve the task titled “IT - system architecture to support business decisions” – created by Artur Grzadziel, one of our Consultants. We preferred candidates with a creative, original approach to problem solving and logical thinking. The various analyses and solutions proposed were very interesting and inspiring for us.

Ten candidates who proposed the most innovative solutions were invited for interviews. During face to face interviews, trainees had the opportunity to showcase their achievements and professional education, and to share their experiences and aspirations. This step decided the winners. The winners are Mateusz Frąckowiak, Radosław Wejda, Jerzy Płusa, Marcin Masłoń, Przemysław Kundzicz and Maciej Nowak. They won apprenticeships in projects under the supervision of experienced Project Managers.

Lingaro is proud to have sponsored the sixteenth edition of "Grasz o staż." Congratulations to the winners - we hope that an apprenticeship in our company will be an important milestone in your careers. With this experience, we plan to sponsor the future editions of "Grasz o staż".

"Why ”Grasz o staż”? I participated in “Grasz o staż” because it is reputed, had an impressive list of sponsoring companies and it is based in the field of IT. The format of this competition really helps trainees show their knowledge, and creativity in the form of the solutions proposed, which de facto reduces the application process. The topic proposed by Lingaro seemed interesting because of the uniqueness of the author's thoughts as well as the fact that he touched the issue of Business Intelligence, which was and is still fresh for me. I also consider it essential in the further development of my career in any segment of the IT industry. Why Lingaro? Because it is important who you are working with and for whom. With whom? A young but very experienced team which ensures rapid progress of my own skills while maintaining good interpersonal communication. For whom? For the largest Polish and foreign companies, which guarantees a good level of complexity in projects, maintaining the best organizational standards, as well as technologies not available to “ordinary mortals”. This internship proposal met my expectations and this is my first step towards becoming a specialist in the IT field. Surprised? I was surprised by the inspiring atmosphere within the team. What did I learn? Work and its organization in the design team, building positive relationships with customers, following the steps of experienced managers. People with a high degree of creativity and flexibility, who do not follow rigid corporate frameworks or lack the confidence required to utilize their strengths fully"

Radosław Wejda – winner of the 16th edition of the “Grasz o staż”

"I took part in “Grasz o staż“ because I was interested in the tasks related to data warehousing in the competition’s website. It was very important to me because I am finishing my studies in specialized data processing technologies. With this knowledge, I was confident of obtaining an apprenticeship with a company dealing with Business Intelligence solutions. The chance for a "fresh" graduate to gain experience is not easy, but I managed to win the contest and join Lingaro. Today I am part of the team working on a project for one of the largest FMCG companies in the world. I build my skills working with experienced consultants. We solve difficult and interesting business problems using advanced technologies and maintaining high design standards. I am glad that I can participate and deepen our combined knowledge-base. Also, I hope that the skills acquired in college will help me be an active part of the team"

Mateusz Frąckowiak – winner of the 16th edition “Grasz o staż”

"I think the “Grasz o staż” contest is a great opportunity to showcase one’s skills to potential employers. Reading the task entitled: “IT - system architecture to support business decisions”, I sensed the opportunity to use my academic knowledge to solve the given problem. My experience shows that even if one doesn’t have experience, but has strong academic knowledge and determination, one can win the “Grasz o staż” contest. Looking over the profiles of the companies that sponsored the contest I noticed that Lingaro provides Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. BI is an area that has interested me for a long time (especially since the beginning of my engineering degree thesis - involving Balanced Scorecard). Usage of latest technology, dynamic growth and customers being market leaders were also important factors I considered while making my choice. Most surprising aspect of Lingaro was the work atmosphere. The possibility to approach anyone for guidance was very helpful for a new comer. Working with much more experienced consultants, I did not feel any difference that divides us. From the first day of internship I was involved in a commercial project for a world leader in the FMCG sector. I was involved as both a developer and analyst, successfully completing the project. During the internship I learned the practical use of PL/SQL (which differs from the theory I learned in college) and the practical use of ‘Oracle Application Express’ – for the first time. I recommend Lingaro highly to anyone who is interested in technology and Business Intelligence tools, especially to appreciate their practical use in some of the world’s leading companies. "My friend, the PWC representative for this competition, persuaded me to participate in the competition. As good luck would have it, one of the tasks in the competition concerned data warehousing. Without hesitation, I chose this task. Preparing the solution took me some time, but when I sent the application to the competition, I felt that I have put a big step forward. The apprenticeship at Lingaro gives me the opportunity to understand the mechanisms behind processing huge amounts of data. I can count on support from experienced staff, so the implementation of the requirements posed in front of me comes easier than I expected. Participation in a project for a company with global significance is a great honor for me. I never thought that after graduation I will have the opportunity to gain experience in Business Intelligence. This is a great opportunity ... and I am glad I tried ..."

"I learned about the contest "Grasz o staż" from my university website. I noticed that the task proposed by Lingaro was related to Business Intelligence. This particularly is a topic I was aware of already. I enjoyed solving the task. I qualified for an interview and won the apprenticeship. At Lingaro I have the opportunity to work with many experienced people in projects for international companies. An opportunity to gain an such experience after graduation is great.
